Number of national officers engaged in environmental administration

In the Japanese government, the number of officers who are engaged in environmental administration was 1,134 officers in Ministry of the Environment, at the end of 2005 fiscal year. Of them, particularly, the number of officers who are engaged in protection of water and atmosphere environment was 137 in the Environmental Management Bureau.

 

Number of regional and local officers engaged in environmental administration

As of April 1, 2004, in prefectures and ordinance-designated cities 7,493 public officers worked on pollutions (except wastes, and water and sewage). In cities, towns, and villages, 9,170 local officers worked on pollutions (except wastes, and water and sewage).
