Elicitation of Problems of Hazardous Substances such as trihalomethane, Produced in the Process of Water Quality Purification

Drinking water supply is one of the most important uses of public water. Protection of headwaters has played an extremely important role for the protection of the quality of drinking water supplies.

However, hazardous substances such as trihalomethane, a suspected carcinogen, which is produced in the chlorination purifying process for drinking water, have created problems. Therefore, improvement of purification methods and a wide range of water quality protection measures for public waters are required. This includes reduction of seemingly harmless organic substances like humic acids. Humic acids in ambient water contributes to the formation of trihalomethane.
