The Third WEPA International Forum
on Water Environmental Governance
23- 24 October 2008, Malaysia
The Third WEPA International Forum on Water Environmental Governance will be held on 23- 24 October 2008 in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Outline of the WEPA International Forum
A sound water environment is one of the essential elements of sustainable development for Asia. However, the quality of rivers, lakes and groundwater has deteriorated in many areas of the region, and it has become a threat to the life of the people as well as the environment. To address water quality problems, current water environmental governance should be improved. However, knowledge and capacity to promote better water environmental governance is still insufficient. Considering such a situation, the WEPA International Forum intends to contribute to promotion of better water environmental governance by accumulating knowledge and experiences on good water environmental management and practices as well as by developing a network among various stakeholders working for the better water environment in the region.
The papers and presentation documents distributed at the forum will be posted on the WEPA database which is open to the public through the Internet.
We hope that such accumulation of information and knowledge will help promotion of good water environmental governance in the region.
